(Saskatoon, SK) The Saskatchewan Winter Cereals Development Commission is pleased to announce it is partnering with the Canadian Wheat Research Coalition (CWRC) to support the Canadian National Wheat Cluster. The Wheat Cluster was announced this morning by the Honorable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food (AAFC). Funding for the Wheat Cluster will come from AAFC through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership’s AgriScience Program and 10 producer and private organizations from across Canada.
The Saskatchewan Winter Cereals Development Commission is pleased to announce it has received funding from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture’s ADOPT (Agricultural Demonstration of Practices and Technologies) program for a two year seeding date trial for winter wheat. The objective is to show that winter wheat can be planted into late September/early October and still maintain a significant level of viability.

Effective October 20, 2017 Saskatchewan Winter Cereals Development Commission no longer officially supports the receipt of FAX documents.
Over the past few months for various reasons Winter Cereals Canada has been experiencing difficulty in receiving fax documents. On reviewing our fax logs we found that WCC received less than 12 separate fax transmissions since January 1, 2017 in total for WCC, WCMI and SWCDC. As a result a decision was made to not replace our current machine.
SWCDC will continue to be able to send fax documents as required however WCC ( SWCDC & WCMI) ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO GUARANTEE THAT FAX TRANSMISSIONS RECEIVED IN OUR OFFICE WILL BE PROPERLY ACCEPTED AND PRINTED.
If you have a document that needs to be transmitted to SWCDC please use one of the 3 alternatives. 1) Scan and email to jake.davidson@swcdc.info . 2) Take a clear photograph of the document with your cell phone and e-mail to the above address or 3) Mail using Canada Post.

The Agri-Food Council has approved SWCDC Bard Order 13/16. This Board Order authorizes the collection of levy on winter wheat, fall rye and winter triticale.
Effective Aug 1, 2017 the SWCDC levy will increase from $0.50 per tonne to $0.98 per tonne of eligible production.
This increase represents a transfer of the federal Western Canadian Research Deduction to a provincial organization and does not represent an increased total deduction from producers.
